Welcome back to 2015.
The Weeknd AKA Abel Tesfaye has dropped an alternative music video for his 2015 hit “Cant Feel My Face” from his album Beauty Behind The Madness. It’s a bit of surprise, it being 6 years since the single dropped and the video, well, offers a fresh new perspective on the song.
In the original video, The Weeknd is seen performing in a small club full of uninterested patrons. That is until a mysterious figure shows up, and lights The Weeknd on fire…Literally, which the audience then loves.
The alternative brings a more low-key, gritty realism in which we peer into a toxic relationship between The Weeknd and a mysterious woman. It feels more like watching a small independent short film than an actual music video. It also feels more inline to prior visual works seen in music videos from his previous album “Kissland”.
You can check out both versions of the music videos below.
